I have compiled this collection of
photographs, highlighting some of the work I have been
fortunate to visit over the years.
Designing spectacular bridges like the Golden Gate is one
of the many specialties of Structural Engineers...
The Royal Gorge Bridge, which is ONE THOUSAND
FIFTY-THREE feet over the Colorado River, was constructed in the 1920's...
The Lynn Cove Viaduct, which winds around Grandfather
Mountain, NC, is a marvel of structural engineering. It is a large bridge structure carefully placed in an elevated position over a delicate wildlife preservation area. This bridge has earned several design awards.
The cable-suspended walkway at Grandfather Mountain is an
interesting structure. On this calm day, movements of the bridge were barely perceptible. However, during a later visit the wind speed had reached 56 mph, and the stout cables were whistling!
